Community Meeting
October 23rd, 2009
3:00pm

Community Presence:
o 1-2-1 has had a few complaints about our students
o Please be extra sensitive to others while out in public

Copier:
o For teacher use only
 Talk to Bonnie if you have questions

Math Club:
o Test was super awesome
o Wish there were more participants
o Basketball-waiting to get in gym
o Algebra/Geometry who have not taken their test, make up test on Monday

X-term:
o Interest survey will be put out at the beginning of next week
o indicate 1,2,3 choice
o There are more options that can be provided
o Juniors to Washington DC (required, unless can prove with a transcript from another high school)

Halloween Dance:
o This next Friday
o The more the merrier
o Look for email from Bonnie
o $5 in an envelope with your name--give to Bonnie

GSA:
o Ally week
o Focus on word choice
o Will have a display of artwork, poetry, or anything that represents equality-submit to GSA
o If you’d like to join--please email Eli

SOA protest:
o Fundraiser bake sale email
o Wednesday, October 28 (before school, during lunch, end of day pick-up)

Gingerbread Club:
o Will build the MHS campus
o Email Sarah if interested

D&D club:
o meet Tuesday, October 27, over lunch

Fitness Club:
o Met on Monday--good turn out (5)
o If anyone would like to join who has not previously joined, please email Sam
o Email times to Sam to coordinate times to go to the gym
o Must attend at least one day a week

Ski Club:
o Sign up

Environmental Club:
o Show movie, Erin Brockovich--first week of November
o Thursday, November 5th
o Tell Kelly if Thursday works

Talent Show:
o Solomon host a talent show
o School appropriate talents only
o Solomon will send an email out looking for interested participants

Printers:
o What printers are available for student use?
o Two printers active for student use:
 Maria--1st floor library
 Was unreliable where it was (now has a hardwired access point)
 Fairchild--color printer on 2nd floor
 Einstein--needs to be plugged in for the science lab
 Alice in student residence
o Possible printer for basement?
o Must make sure there’s a network connection nearby
o If need to print in b/w only, print to Maria
o Email James about printer questions

Schedule:
o Will schedule be fixed?
o Yes.
 ELA has been fixed and science will get fixed over the weekend
o If there are course specific/group specific
o Easier to schedule CAS time when there is a clear schedule
o Looking for a more settled schedule
o Talk to Chris about community meeting time
o Would like a fixed time schedule
o Decision will be made in the next two weeks about the schedule
 Contact Chris, James, or Michael with points, ideas, comments
o Please be patient
o TOK and Community Meeting put on school calendar

Art Project:
o Martina needs plastic bags
o Please bring them in and give to Martina
o She will send an email

Guitar Lessons:
o Tuesdays and Thursdays--sign up sheet is available from 1-5pm
o Start with after school times
o Returning students have first right
o He wants all 12 students
o David Kahn will work on drums

Moments of Greatness:
o Math seminar--once questions started rolling, everyone did a great job
o Françoise was sick on Wednesday and came in anyways
o Leah was also sick and came in to support the students
o Arnold and Luke, bravo for coming to French club (along with Luke and Emily CC)
o GSA, poster on second floor
o Great creative talent this year
o Arnold cleaning the banisters and walls, etc when not his week to clean
o IB History students--a lot of the work is new and hard, and this week everyone is pulling their work together
o Maria’s project partners--thank you for keeping her up to date while she’s been sick
o Sam Dixson for making Solomon laugh (with changing music)

Job Change:
o On Monday switch cleaning advisories and lunch duty changes

Rumor Squashing:
o There are no confirmed cases of H1N1 at MHS
